Abstract

"Although Ban Hin Lee Bank was a Chinese owned bank serving mainly Chinese customers, ledgers and accounts were kept in English. This was the common practice of all local banks in the 1930s except the Four Seasons Commercial Bank which kept their ledgers in Chinese." - Notes from the donor
