Two new species of Pethia, P. castor and P. pollux, are described from flooded areas of the Ayeyarwady drainage in Kachin State and Sagaing Region, central Myanmar. The two species are largely sympatric and syntopic, generally similar in external appearance, and distinguished from congeners by the absence of black blotches (round or vertically elongate) on the body. Pethia castor and P. pollux are distinguished from each other by subtle characters of the mouth and snout, osteology, and colour pattern in preservative. The uncorrected P-distance (based on mitochondrial cytochrome c oxidase I [COI] gene sequences) between the two new species is 8.2%. Phylogenetic analyses of a small dataset of COI sequences for 16 species of Pethia plus outgroup taxa corroborates Pethia as a monophyletic group, inside of which P. castor and P. pollux represent sister taxa, and together represent the sister taxon of the Ganga-Brahmaputran P. gelius.

A joint Indonesia-Singapore Deep Sea Expedition (SJADES 2018) focusing on the benthic fauna of the little sampled, western region of the Indonesian Archipelago has resulted in an extensive collection of sea stars (Asteroidea). Of these, two new species, an astropectinid and pterasterid, are herein described from mesopelagic depths in the Sunda Strait.

Stolephorus concursus, new species, and Stolephorus celsior, new species, both characterised by the maxilla extending beyond the preopercle posterior margin and numerous black spots on the suborbital area, snout, and lower-jaw tip, are described on the basis of specimens from the southwestern Pacific Ocean and Manila Bay, Luzon, Philippines, respectively. Although the former and Stolephorus bataviensis Hardenberg, 1933 both have the pelvic fin extending to below the dorsal-fin origin, S. concursus, new species, has greater numbers of total gill rakers on the first and second gill arches (38–41 and 30–34, respectively vs. 33–38 and 27–32 in the latter), and longer pectoral fin (16.5–18.1% SL vs. 14.7–16.4%) and snout (4.8–5.4% SL vs. 3.7–4.7%). Stolephorus celsior, new species, is similar to both Stolephorus babarani Hata, Lavoué & Motomura, 2020 and Stolephorus baweanensis Hardenberg, 1933 in having the pelvic fin not extending to below the dorsal-fin origin, but differs from them in generally having a greater number of total gill rakers on the first gill arch (40 or more vs. 41 or fewer in the latter two), in addition to longer pectoral and pelvic fins (> 16.6% SL and 9.5% SL, respectively vs. < 16.8% and 9.4%).

Two new, long-legged species of the freshwater crab genus Sundathelphusa Bott, 1969, are described from the island of Negros in the central Philippines. These are Sundathelphusa orsoni, new species, from the forested foothills of Mount Kanlaon in the northern region of the island, and S. niwangtiil, new species, a troglophilic species from the hilly southern region. These two species are similar to Philippine congeners such as S. longipes (Balss, 1937), S. wolterecki Balss, (1937), S. sutteri (Bott, 1970), S. celer (Ng, 1991), and S. holthuisi Ng, 2010, but can be distinguished from these, and from each other, by the morphology of the carapace, pereopods, male thoracic sternum, pleon, and gonopods
