Abstract |
In Singapore, Ficus crassiramea (Miq.) Miq. (Moraceae), commonly known as the collared fig, is a nationally critically endangered species that can now only be found in the wild on Pulau Tekong and Pulau Ubin. It has been observed to do well in cultivation and is known to support a wide range of frugivorous bird species. We therefore propose that Ficus crassiramea should be propagated and planted more extensively around Singapore Island, where it can be grown in coastal parks and other sites to enhance the native biodiversity |

Abstract |
In Singapore, the Johor fig, Ficus kerkhovenii Koord. & Valeton (Moraceae), is a nationally critically endangered species whose large trees can now only be found in Changi, D’Leedon condominium, Pulau Ubin, Sentosa, and the Singapore Botanic Gardens’ Jungle. It is an immense, magnificent tree well worth propagating and cultivating more extensively in Singapore, where it can be grown in parks, large gardens, and other sites to enhance the native biodiversity since it supports many insect and frugivorous bird species. |

Abstract |
In Singapore, Ficus vasculosa Wall. ex Miq. (Moraceae), is a nationally endangered fig species that grows in hedges and secondary forest in various localities including Changi, Central Catchment Nature Reserve, Nassim Hill, Paterson Road, Pearl’s Hill City Park, Pulau Ubin, Rifle Range Road, the Singapore Botanic Gardens, Tanglin Road, Teban Gardens Crescent, and Tyersall Road. It is a usually small, evergreen tree with lobed juvenile leaf blades and entire mature leaf blades, and is the only Singapore fig tree with stalked, glabrous, drop-shaped, red syconia. It has horticultural potential for cultivation in parks, gardens, and other sites to enhance the native biodiversity since it supports many insect and frugivorous animal species. |

Abstract |
Ficus virens is a nationally critically endangered species in Singapore, with most of its individuals found in urban areas. Ficus virens has many uses and can be actively propagated through stem cuttings to increase its numbers and distribution in Singapore. Fruiting Ficus virens trees in parks may improve frugivore biodiversity but cultivation along roadsides may not be as well received owing to its periodic leafing resulting in much leaf litter. |

Abstract |
Two species of the genus Pterospermum are found naturally in Singapore: Pterospermum diversifolium Blume and Pterospermum javanicum Jungh. Pterospermum diversifolium Blume is listed in the Singapore Red Data Book and the Singapore Plant List as nationally extinct. However, a wild population of Pterospermum diversifolium Blume has recently been rediscovered in Pulau Ubin. The distribution of Pterospermum javanicum Jungh. in the wild in Singapore appears to be more restricted presently compared to historical records. A third species, Pterospermum lanceifolium Roxb., is known to occur in Singapore solely from records from Fort Canning and research suggests that it is probably of a cultivated origin. |
