Plumbe worked in the University of Malaya Library in Singapore under Ernest Clark, and later headed the University of Malaya Library in Kuala Lumpur. He worked with many librarians such as George Ee, Tan Oh Sai, Hedwig Anuar, Donald Wijayasuriya, and Lim Huck Tee. As a result of his interest in the arts, he got to know many local artisits in Singapore and Malaya. Among them were T. Y Choy, Lim Cheng Hoe, Chew Yew Seng, Chen Chong Swee, Cheong Soo Pieng, Chen Wen His, Chia Wai Hon, Chia Yu Chian, See Tho Chee Kong, Khoo Yun Thong, Hoh Choo Chuan, Chuah Thean Teng, Sulaiman bin Haji Suhaimi and Abdullah bin Abdul Jalal. He was founder of The Singapore Artist Contains an account of his time in the 1950s in Singapore working as a librarian in the University of Malaya Library and his involvement with the local arts scene |
